Hit the trail at the crossroads at the outskirts of Pec, cross the bridge, then go past Corso Hotel. Just beyond the bridge take off along the footpath, up to the hillside and after 100 m cross the road. Keep going on the yellow trail uphill.
The gradual ascent stops after a while, after 200 m cross a brook, continue up the hill till you hit the asphalt road which takes you past Javorské boudy chalets to Vebrovy boudy chalets. The last leg of a gentle ascent is ahead of you until you reach Slatinná stráň (Moor Hillside) and the excellent vistas of Sněžka, Studniční and Luční mountain will appear on your right-hand side.
Decide whether to continue along the yellow trail until Kolínská chalet and then to Prague chalet, which is about 0.5 km longer than a straight path.
Admire a unique small zoological corner by Kolínská chalet as well as one of the most significant panoramas of The Giant Mountains. This secluded place is called Lučiny and served as a cattle-breeding area for landlords.
To return to Pec, set off along the yellow hiking trail past Husova chalet, along the blue trail till the centre of the town. However, to walk from Lučiny onwards, use the red trail to reach the ecofarm called Lesní bouda (The Forest Chalet, ca 2.5 km away) and change for the yellow trail to get back to Pec.
