From the bus station, go to the main access junction. Go straight on at the junction and just after the bridge turn left to the red-marked cycling trail K1A (THERE IS A STEEP CLIMB OF 27%). Go straight on through Janovy Boudy to Spálený Mlýn and cross the main road there. Turn right at the bus stop Spálený Mlýn onto the blue-marked cycling trail K25. After about 1.5 kilometres at the signpost Nad Myslivnou continue along the same trail. This path is called Emmina cesta and provides wonderful views of the Eastern Krkonoše mountains, including Sněžka. At the signpost Pod Starou Horou take the green-marked cycling trail K26 leading to Horní Maršov. Before reaching the square Bertholdovo náměstí, you will come across a signpost to navigate you to the cycling trail K1B (towards Modrokamenná bouda). Go on via Pražačka and Modrokamenná bouda along the trail called Rudolfova cesta to Janské Lázně. If you do not want to use the cable car, do not miss Penzion Martin*** on your right-hand side. Turn sharp right there via the street Zvonečková ulice to the cycling trail K19A (Lobkovicova cesta). After 2.5 kilometres go straight on to the blue-marked cycling trail K19B. Follow this trail through Zrcadlovky to the signpost Luční svážnice. Turn sharp right there to the cycling trail K19C (or you can just follow the blue-marked tourist trail leading from Janské Lázně to Pod Kolínskou boudou). At Kolínká bouda you can taste the local beer Kolínský special 13° and then go along the same trail towards Pražská bouda. The final descent to the valley of Pec goes past Žižkova bouda.
Tips:
- At Janova bouda, take a short detour to the chalet Borůvka to see beautiful views of the valley of Velká Úpa and Sněžka.
- A beer self-serving facility at Husova bouda with a view of the valley of Pec and Sněžka.
