St. Lawrence Pilgrimage, 10 August
The undoubtedly biggest event that we can invite you to is St. Lawrence Pilgrimage, which takes place every year on 10 August. In a procession, the pilgrims ascent to Sněžka, where they join another procession from Poland. A mass is celebrated in St. Lawrence Chapel at Sněžka and an accompanying music programme, attended by renowned music bands every year, takes place down in Pec in the afternoon. Entertainment for children, a fair and good refreshment are not missing.
Krakonoš's goulash and rescuer day, September
The second most important event in the town that repeats every year is a contest for the best-cooked goulash under Sněžka. Only the best chefs compete in the contest, which is attended by celebrities of the Czech culture. Their products are assessed by visitors, as well as by an expert jury.
A quality music programme, performed by top Czech singers and bands, accompanies the event. Everyone who comes to the "goulashs" will enjoy themselves enormously!
Marosana 4down race, October
Bikers finish their cycling season in Velká Úpa at the Portášky course, where a wild parallel downhill race of quartets of bikers from a steep slope has been taking place for many years.
The event has gained renown and every year there are hundreds of bikers competing in who manages first (and healthy) to pass the course full of jumps, sharp turns and potholes. You should not miss this attractive spectacle.
Every year, the event is accompanied by a dancing music production as wild as the rides themselves.
